About Security
Concerned that buying online or using Internet-based services or programs will expose your personal information to unauthorized third parties? Our emphasis on privacy provisions and improved Internet security have made using the Internet safer than ever. Here are the ways you’re protected online:
Superior Fraud Protection
You already know that the Internet is an easy and convenient way to shop. Now you can enjoy peace of mind in knowing that it's one of the safest places as well, with our Superior Fraud Protection.
So now there's nothing stopping you. Get out there and explore the world of online shopping.
Encryption protects the privacy of your communication with our Shopping Cart System
We use the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol for encrypting communications with our Cardmembers. SSL uses public-key cryptography scrambles the information sent between senders and receivers. In the unlikely event that third parties try to eavesdrop or intercept this message, SSL encryption prevents them from viewing its contents.
Our Shopping Cart programs are located on a "SSL-capable server." This means that, in order to benefit from SSL’s high level of security when accessing the Shopping Cart, you must use a SSL-capable browser in order to establish a secure channel or socket with our server.
How can you make sure you’re using an SSL-capable browser?
Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.0 and higher for both) are two examples of SSL-capable browsers. Netscape has recently released Communicator 4.0, which is also SSL-capable. You can download the latest versions of these browsers by following these links to their Web sites.

How can you tell if you're in a secure session?
When using these browsers, it's easy to determine whether your session is secure.
  • Netscape Navigator (3.0 and higher) and Netscape Communicator (4.0 and higher) - Both programs show their security symbols in the bottom left corner of your browser window. To confirm that your session is secure, look for either a solid key or a closed padlock. If the connection is not secure, the key will be broken or the padlock will be open.
  • Microsoft's Internet Explorer (3.0 or higher) - indicates a secure session by displaying a padlock in the lower right corner of your browser window. If the connection is not secure, no padlock will be visible.
  • AOL - In the locator address bar, AOL adds the letter "s" to the http that proceeds the URL of the Web site you want to go to.
  • Customize Your Browser - In addition to the visual clues that these browsers provide, you may also configure your browser to prompt a message when entering or leaving Web pages that are secure.
What are cookies and why are they used?
"Cookies" are files which some Internet companies or services use to store your configuration and user preference information on your computer and to track user information from Web site to Web site. You may have heard concerns regarding privacy due to the use of cookies. However, the cookie that the Shopping Cart sets is sent back only to our server, and can only be read and used by the Shopping Cart and is used only to maintain your account identity as you move from page to page of our Web Site.
